Clinton Police Divisions
UNIFORM PATROL DIVISION
This division provides 24 hours a day and seven days a week police protection to the citizen of Clinton. This division is staffed by 3 sergeants and 6 patrolmen and 1 K-9.
At this time our patrol division works a four day work week with two shifts. Days 6am-6pm and Nights 6p-6a.
The department K-9 unit has experienced some changes this year. In January 2008 we had to retire Sazou, our full service K-9 due to suffering a stroke. She is resting with her handler, Sgt. Sean Freytag, at his residence. In March 2008 we were fortunate to receive a retire K-9 from Logan County handler Bob Spickard, a 7 year old chocolate lab named Frank. We picked a new handler, Officer James McClure, and both handler and K-9 underwent training at the Canine Training Institute. On July 1, 2008 they were patrolling the streets as partners.
The department also has a bike patrol which is utilized during the summer months to monitor activity on the Mr. Lincoln Square as well as our two festivals, May Days and Apple & Pork.

INVESTIGATIONS DIVISION
This division is staffed by a Detective, a School Resource Officer, a Drug Task Force Officer, and a Juvenile Officer
In 1999, our department entered into a partnership with the Clinton Unified School District #15 to provide a school resource officer to work in all of the Clinton School district’s six buildings. We secured a grant to fund this position for the first four years. Our School Resource Officer concentrates most of his efforts and time at the junior high and high schools.
The department is a member of a two county drug task force. Task Force 6 is staffed from six different law enforcement agencies. Through these combined efforts, the sharing of information and making drug arrests, we hope to stem the flow of illegal drugs into Clinton and DeWitt County.
Our juvenile officer is responsible for investigating all crimes committed by juveniles as well as any crimes against juveniles. In addition, our department works closely with the Children’s Advocacy Center in investigating sexual assault cases.
