This division is staffed by a Detective, a Juvenile Officer, a School Resource Officer, and a Drug Task Force Officer.

Our juvenile officer is responsible for investigating all crimes committed by juveniles as well as any crimes committed against juveniles. In addition, our Department works closely with the Department of Children & Family Services and the Children’s Advocacy Center in investigating sexual assault cases.

In 1999, our department entered into a partnership with the Clinton Unit School District #15 to provide a school resource officer to work in all of the Clinton School district’s six buildings. We secured a grant to fund this position for the first four years and has continued through partnership funding of the City of Clinton Police Department and the Unit 15 School District. The School Resource Officer is a complex position focusing on school safety and security, serving as a liaison between school administrators and law enforcement, a law enforcement counselor and educator.

The department is a member of a three county drug task force. Task Force 6 is commanded by the Illinois State Police and staffed from members of six different law enforcement agencies. Through these combined efforts, the sharing of information and resources in narcotics investigations and making drug arrests, we hope to stem the flow of illegal drugs into Clinton and DeWitt County.
